You stated that you like to buy "Expensive" things. Good for you.
I never said I like to buy them, I just like good quality, and you're far more likely to get good quality spending good money. For more clarification read rjxj's post. Argue with him for awhile.
HEY HEY HEY!!!!! I have already tried!!!! I had worked on generators for years and you know what, when the storm hit and everyone run out to start their generator do you know what happened? Honda was the least like to show up when there are 40 of them sitting there.
This is another thing I noticed about Honda and Yamaha.
No one plans on letting fuel go stale but it's a huge problem for generators and HONDA carburetors are MORE tolerant at surviving it. YES, they can be trashed but over and over we would see some that would start to dissolve the center post of the carb where the fuel bowl nut threads into. It's not a reason to buy a Honda, it's just a reason to understand that the lesser priced one will be better served if it is not subjected to that. Yes, there are better and lesser grades of metals.
I would recommend that ALL generators when stored have the fuel drained and flushed with seafoam. If we put a Honda and an off brand side by side and drain and flush each of them every time you could say SEE the lesser product did just as good as a Honda. IT DID under those conditions but put in lesser conditions the Honda will hold up better.
It's no reason to develop any sort of complex over buying a lesser priced product but understand what the price difference is. It IS NOT two equal products being offered and one of them just decides to charge more. It does not mean that a lesser priced product cant serve your needs.
Bring one of those off brands and a Honda into a shop 12 years later and see which one them ends up in the corner waiting for parts. On the other hand you could just junk it and buy another one.
I wanted a Magnum inverter but I didn't know how long I would own it or if our needs would change so I bought a 2000 Watt Xantrex and operate it at the low side of it's power range.
That's as well or as many times as I can explain it now back to 2oldman. :)
