Even with the trailer tow package, the Taco was only rated for 6500 lbs (3500 lbs without).
I owned a '89 Mazda B2600i which I used to tow a 3500 lb 20' boat (Sea Doo Challenger 2000) over the mountains - It was possible, but it was not fast or relaxing. I could maintain 4th gear unless someone got in my way - At that point I was stuck in 3rd the rest of the way to the summit. Towing the boat to the local launch was not a problem - The surge brakes did their job and it never felt out of control. Trying to do that with 2.5x the weight with a large draft on anything but lower speed flats will wear out the driver and Taco quickly.
