New or Used?

We are considering a newer, not new, travel trailer or 5th wheel toy hauler.

With a $30,000 budget, would it be better to purchase a mid-line pre-owned unit, as old as 2012, or buy new?

Used or new? That is the question. I don't want to buy someone else's troubles, but new ones do not seem any better, quality wise.

Your thoughts/experiences?

We have a one ton Dodge dually with a Cummins, so within reason, size is not a problem although I would like to stay at 35 feet or under.
  • I think it is like anything else. You will get more for your money typically on the used market, but you have to be sure to check everything out thoroughly to be sure everything works and there is no evidence of water damage or crash damage. Buying through a dealer may give you some level of comfort as they may have at least a short warrantee period or at least you can try to negotiate one in.
