New Porch Light Rule

Sounds like my neighbor about my security light above my mh in the carport, just another one that too stoopid to close her bathroom curtain???? but alright for her to leave her front door light's on all night.

Yes. I have seen People with RV’s that you know they have had for years and they still don’t know which switch is for inside lights and which one is for the outside work lights! Now that I think about it I haven’t had that problem ina long time.

I never turn mine on cause it draws bugs which are just waiting to come in when you open the door.


I much prefer to stick an automotive flasher in my trailer cord and make the clearances/side marker lights flash on/off.
And with my window shades pulled I don't even notice them

Have you had the bug zapper people yet? We experienced them a few months back at a mountain, wooded, campground next to a lake. The guy had no common sense and eventually had a run in with the park ranger over his 24/7 bug zapper keeping half the campground awake.

We visit a state park campground often near us because it's a dark sky location, and away from city lights. Now days you can forget about it as the campground is brighter than the street in our residential neighborhood. This all became the new norm in the last 5 years or so. The most thoughtful are the people who turn them all on and go to bed.

I have always had a hard time reading people. When they turn on all those pretty lights thinking that others are saying look how cool those people are, I am usually the guy saying what a load of a$$holes.

Next time your camping neighbor has your site lit up like the Vegas strip, try sliding an open can of sardines and a 12 pack of Dr Pepper in cans under his trailer late at night. Wait until the local coon family comes a calling @ 3:00 AM and rip into those Dr Pepper cans lol.

The half and half light is a good idea. The inside light can be a night light so I don't break my leg getting up to P at 2AM.
If those dim bulbs annoy you that much maybe your eyelids were removed at birth.
We don't leave ours on BTW, for the bug reason.

Dim? Have you seen the white LED porch lights on the newer Airstreams and which are also used by some other manufacturers as a scare on the streetside of travel trailers and 5ers? Or how about the LED awning striplights? I guess it depends on your definition of porch light. Those Airstream ones are akin to a 737 landing light lol. Even worse are those idiotic 5000 watt bucket lights strung up in the trees.....WTF is the purpose

In some concrete and neon RV resort type of place so what? No big deal there. In a rustic, wooded state park somewhere not appropriate IMO. All instances of camping etiquette have went by the wayside in the last 5 to 10 years. I attribute it to the insecure mentality now days, a lot of people anymore are wussies, or have the need to attempt to impress others. If you need it to see while doing things around the outside of your rig have at it. When you turn in for the night shut the **** thing off. Camp near me, light up my site all night long, and I can assure you we're having civil words about it the next morning. And if that doesn't work expect a couple million candlepower of deer spotting light to be coming your way the next night, and we'll see how you like that lighting up the pleated shades like light fixtures.

Recently had an obvious newbie on the site next to us mere feet away in a shiny new, straight off the lot TT. Had one of those exterior bathroom doors on the street/drivers side at the rear - right across from our entry door. He never used that door once but left his stupid yellow light on every night. No need for us to have any outside lights on, pffft...

Probably shoulda turned on our LED awning strip light that lights up at least half a CG and kept him awake all night.

First all my outdoor lights go off when I go to bed. That being said I made sure the bedroom of our RV is “light proof”
