Towing a 2014 Ford Explorer after replacing our 08 Explorer this spring. Biggest pain seems to be that we never experienced any problem with dead battery with the 08. The 14 just has too much electronics drawing on the battery and even though the manual says stop every six hours and start the engine I have found that is way too long and the battery will be dead. Finally broke down and added a dedicated charge line from the coach to the toad. The 14 is easier to set up for towing as it no longer needs to have the neutral tow switch installed. Ours is a key model rather than a push button start so I just put the transmission in neutral and turn the key to the #1 position.
Watch which model you buy though as I believe the eco boost model is not towable.
