New Tow Car

We need a new tow car and have always used a manual transmission. I notice Ford, and probably others, advertise that several of their cars with an automatic transmission can be towed by only running the engine for one minute at the beginning of the day. Looking for any feedback, good or bad, from anyone using a tow car with this feature.

    Yes some automatics can be towed 4 down. Some do need to be run after 250 miles or so and usually for longer than 2 minutes.

    Best thing to do is narrow your search down on which car you like and look in the cars manual under 'recreational towing' section. There the manufacturer will state whether it can be towed 4 down.

    The car's manual is THE best place to get the correct information.
