New trailer needs

Have a new 27' trailer, what are the top ten things we will need to get on the road ? Which sewer hoses? Do we need the hose supports?
There are so many items in the RV store, don't want to buy what we really don't need.
thanks
  • Thanks to all! Have made two successful trips...no looking at better tow vehicle, have 2008 Expedition, and a 26.6 KeystoneSSLRL. Heading over the RidgeRoute on Interstate 5 next month, think I can make it?
  • Water pressure regulator a good one adjustable with a gauge, EMS some call them surge protectors will be in the area of 300.00 plus protects agains high and low power as well as a missed wired power post.
  • Get the Rhino sewer hose.....recommend a Flushking to backflush black tank.....unless you have a built in flush in TT

    Also recommend the Reese Duo Cam hitch system!
  • Must have;
    A drinking water quality hose.
    A quality sewer hose like the Rhino hose
    A 25' 30A extension cord
    A quality integrated sway control weight distributing hitch like the Reese Dual Cam
    Cooking untensils

    Desirable;
    An awning mat
    A basic tool kit
    Camp chair
    I use a sewer hose support
    LinX blocks
    minimum leveling wood
  • flashlights ...you can never have enough

    a mat for outside....If you are able to purchase a mat for under the awning. We bought a 8x16'. It is the kind that does not ruin the grass. It really saves the dirt going in the trailer...we paid around $150 for it.
  • My hub and I have three check lists: RV* People* Pets. We are starting the "hook up / leveling list" too. We're not getting any younger and we are a bit forgetful. The lists are a HUGE HELP.

    Here's a good website, with printable ck lists to get you started. Good Luck!

    The Mother of All Check Lists -

    Our first couple trips out we put as much on our personal lists as we could think of. But... we certainly forgot things too. So.. since I had generated the lists on the computer we just went back and continue to improve the lists. Now, we print off all 3 lists before we leave, and when the check boxes are full, we are good to go.
  • Unless you have a much better memory than me I'd suggest a pen and tablet, too. Very handy for recording stuff you need and didn't take, stuff you took and didn't need, and many other uses.
  • Loulou has a good basic list there. We don't carry as much length of hose or electric extension cord as that though. And I'd buy the best sewer hose you can. The cheap ones are junk, and it's just not an item you want to split open in mid use. Don't forget Chocks! Don't want to go rolling down a hill :)
  • You will need.
    .... sewer hose to empty into dump station or "honey tank", You don't need the most expensive but do not go with the lowest end.

    ......white fresh water hose, we carry 75'

    ......electrical cord 30amp, we carry 150'

    ......wood planks for levelling, you can also buy a variety of products for levelling but we have a variety of 2x10 planks cut up.

    ......tool kit, look around your trailer and see what is obvious, screw drivers, sockets etc. along with extra pins for hitch and sway bars, fuses, light bulbs for running lights

    ......we take 18V cordless drill for putting up the levelling jacks, remember the socket also. We also take a 4ft level, makes it easier for levelling.

    I could mention many things..LOL
  • A good GPS. I like Garmin but there are others. Some will argue that a good map will get them everywhere. I suggest that a good map will get you to Cleveland but will not get you to 1000 Wilson Avenue in Cleveland where the campground is.
