We rediscovered this method of making coffee on the first trip of the season one year. We left the coffee maker in the coach over the winter and the water in the heater reservoir froze and cracked it (pot metal). First coffee of the first trip the water leaked all over the counter. Boiled some water, put a filter in the basket with some coffee and made a pot. Stopped at Walmart and got a new maker.
This year we bought a Melita for the days we'll be dry camping.
