New Video: "Coffee - No Generator"

A few weeks ago a member here created a thread about videos folks have made of their camping experiences. I enjoyed watching many of them, and realized I needed to explore new styles in my own video-making. I needed a faster pace for one thing.

Also, I've been noticing a number of posts over the years about generators. A lot of people seem to mention coffee makers as a reason to get a generator. Well, ever since I can remember, our method of making coffee while camping has not required electricity. I thought it would be nice to share our method.

Put these two things together, and I had a project.

So here's my latest attempt to improve my video-making ability: A how-to video on coffee making with no generator.

Enjoy!

  • My wife is an avid coffee drinker (I am not). A couple years ago the power went out at the campground we were at. We had only an electric drip coffee maker.

In order to satisfy her "addiction", I ended up using one of the coffee filters, put it over a funnel, poured coffee grinds on top of the filter in the funnel. Boiled water on the propane stove (does not take electricity you know), and then simply poured the hot water into the funnel, it dripped into a cup.

Well, after that bit of experimentation, we went out the same day and bought an old style percolator coffee pot that can be used on the stove top. It's been in the camper ever since, and .... never used! But its there as a back-up!

    EDIT.
I wasn't able to view the video. I just pulled it up on my SmartPhone. yea! The funnel! GREAT video there! I love it.
  • Nice! I'll have to give that a whirl. I'll admit I do fire up the generator just to use the Keurig, but I'm willing to try new things :)

    Thanks for posting the vid!
