Wonder if the 28" is to the top of the tonge frame? Or an older model if it had a top mount coupler???
Hard to say on the tw of older models. Maybe the 32 was a little marginal even without the outdoor kitchen, so like you mentioned, the axles were slid back a little.
One concern I have is my factory hitch is only rated for 1500lbs tw. And if I go with the Reese 2.5" shank E-Trailer states it doesn't work with the Curt hitch, which is rated for over 2k lb tw, but the Reese is only rated for 1400 or 1500lbs so it isn't any better than the factory hitch (rating wise).
