I'm not eager to see EVs take over because they just don't seem practical to me (yet).

But nothing would make me happier than to see our society honestly discuss nuclear power and start building new nuke plants. I don't see any other way to make EVs feasible.

The battery waste is still a big issue for me though. We're going to save this planet so hard that we'll kill it with all the spent batteries.

EV has been around since the 1880s, faded out late 1920s, came back in the 1950s, then 1960s, then 1970s, then 1980s, then 1990s, it has been resurrected many times over the yrs and failed.

The only way EV will succeed is to have it "legislated" into staying and that is what is being done under the guise of "saving the Earth" from all those harmful and yet common and required for life to exist carbon molecules.

But for EV to really work, you must have an electrical grid that is up to the task and that grid must not create more "pollution" than what it does today.

Our electrical grid is not there, our power plants are not there, adding more plants will result in more pollution, adding solar panels will create far more pollution from hazardous materials..

I don't think anyone really wants to "pollute" the Earth so if it sounds like it will save the Earth, people will be on board, but it is the real information on how much pollution is created in making everything from solar panels, to wind gens to the batteries required that is being omitted, looked over or skipped. Recycling materials out of Lithium batteries is not cost effective and very expensive at this time so worn out EV Lithium batteries are going to have to be buried in landfills or stored in warehouses in the future.

The market is helping.

Every car manufacturer is going into EV.

In Europe countries are doing this in different and even earlier timelines.

Very graphically shows the faults in supposed "save the Earth" move like banning non EV vehicles.

Wished they would have gone further into the extremely hazardous chemicals and gasses used in making solar, wind and batteries..

Solar panels use pretty much the same techniques/materials as you would with making any semiconductor but solar cells are on a much larger scale..

HERE is a overview from Intel on processor chips.

HERE is a good list of materials and chemicals used to produce semiconductors..

Not a pretty list and anyone that can look me in the eyes with a straight face and say that all of those materials and chemicals are "safer" or "better" for the environment is a lier.

The truth is "carbon" is everywhere and in nearly everything on this Earth. It is common, it is required for every living thing to live (plants, animals and yes, humans), it is natural. We cannot stamp it out and the natural progression is in the life cycles of plants, animals and humans.

If we do not extract and use oil and gas, it will eventually find its' own way to the surface as part of the Earths own natural cycles as it has done since the Earth was formed..

And use up twice as many electrons as anyone else! :)

Yep, I can see EVs taking a portion of the market but ultimately, it will depend on the buyer.

I see lots of the eco-warriors talking a good game before getting into their big SUV to drive the kids to soccer. No reason to believe they will change.

Or they’ll just buy a big EV SUV. :).

As kids we were promised flying cars well before now. Where the heck are they???

Of course I also remember one of my high school teachers professing that by the year 2000 there would be no more land left on earth for us to live on, so we would have to start inhabiting undersea and outer space dwellings. Hmmmm. Almost believed it back then (1960's). Can we say 'crackpot'?

.........when I think back to all the cr-- I learned in high school, it's a wonder I can think at all........
