Newer is better???? DualCam Parts!

DrawTite replaced my 8 yr old 1000# round bar assy about 2 years ago, with a newer 1200# unit. Due to the bars being somewhat thicker down by the "crooked" end, causing binding, heavy banging in the DualCam cams (and some damage to our old Jayco frame), I didn't use the new hitch until this spring when we bought our new trailer.

Purchased a new DualCam to use with the "new" 1200# bars. Now have about 1600 miles on the setup. Here are some pics to show some differences and what newer sometimes gets us!!!

In first picture you can see the wear in the notch area and the heavy score in the newer, silver hanger. Yes there is wear in the older gold one, but nowhere near as much, and it ran for over 8 years. Both of the newer hangers have good notches in the same areas. In the second pic, you can see the bend that is happening in the lower area of the hanger. Again, even the older ones have some bend incurred, but (pics really don't show) maybe half as much as the new ones.

The older hangers are about .006-.008" thicker than the new ones, have sharper, squarer edges and fit on the cams tighter with less wobble. You can see that the new ones are probably stamped since one side has a nice edge and the opposite is rounded more. They "wobble" more, so probably bend outward more when the bars in position. The older gold cams also have a more pronounced edge where the hangers ride. Also, the newer "silver" cams are showing a bit more wear than I would expect considering the amount of wear the gold ones showed after 8 yrs. Yes, 1200# vs 1000# bars and more tongue weight. Hopefully this wear will settle down with more miles, or not!!!

Trying to decide if I should use the older hangers on the new cams or not. They fit good and smooth, very little slop or wobble on the cam arm. But the holes for the u-bolts are about 1/2 a link lower (hanger is slightly shorter) and I'll have to adjust the cams again probably!! I'm lazy, and really don't enjoy doing this when it's 90+ degrees out!!!

Just some thoughts for those DualCam users and experts out there!!!
