News for Service Connected Vets

Military.Com

Service connected will be able to use the PX/BX system and the other morale facilities like Golf Courses and more important to me is the on Base Campgrounds.

I'm not sure that the PX are much cheaper if any than the discount big boxes. Around here anyway but in the high price blue states they may well be worth the trip. But those campgrounds are interesting. I'll have to see if there is a list of them.

  • I have seen a web site listing all military base fam camps. Don't have it handy though.
  • Base Exchanges tend to be more akin to mid-high end dept stores, clothing, household goods etc, they tend to carry name brands, and prices are a little higher than big boxes outside. Think of them as being in line with a Belk or a Kohls.
Campgrounds, they are already gettin tight, because of the Base closings and consolidations, many locations have had shortages of base housing for decades, and a lot of the Famcamps have become semi-permanent housing for active duty. For info on them try Military campgrounds. it's a private website run by a retired Air Force service member, so expect some request for donations to help keep it running.
