NHTSA Safety Recall 15V-866

I received the following recall yesterday affecting 2015 and 2016 model year Winnebago Sightseer, Vista and Adventurer models along with 2015 and 2016 model year Itasca Sunova, Sunstar and Suncruiser models. I've already spoken with our dealer's service dept and have an appointment on Monday to have the correction made. I'm told it should take no more than 30-minutes.

clicky

  • I spoke with my dealer today. Apparently there were two different step manufacturers used, Kwikee and another brand. I was told by the service writer and the warranty clerk that Kwikee steps are NOT included in the recall. I was told I could schedule an appointment and they would inspect my steps and then order parts if needed. She pulled the paperwork and verified that it only applied to the other brand (sorry I can't recall it). I told her I had Kwikee steps and she said I was welcome to bring my unit in for an inspection but it was not going to be one of the warranty units, so I opted not uncover the MH and take it to the dealer just to be told it was not one of the recall units.
  • So it's a recall where the steps suddenly unexpectedly extend while the vehicle is in motion? On a positive note I guess that's better than steps that retract unexpectedly when you open the door.:(
  • Wow! I hope this carries on! And onto trailers as well! There will be lots of recalls if it does!!!
