no discounts for oregonians with disabilities

Get one of the Access Passes for the National Parks, and go to them.

Should not everyone pay the same if you want us to be equal and free?

I do not have a problem for discounts for Vets since they gave up their rights (i.e. where to live and when to be deployed) to allow me to make my own choices.

This is a pet peeve of mine...my neighbor is 'disabled.' Collects various benefits, has a disabled parking pass, doesn't work and hasn't for a long time...
His disability...suffers from "stress and anxiety."

For Vets - yes, and for 'true' disability, there should be benefits like reduced camping rates, but there are, as with lots of things, abuses of the system.

Access to discounts, rebates or other freebies you think you should be getting is not a right.

It appears you need free access to punctuation.

Each government runs it's own program. The federal program is available in all states. What Oregon decides to do with their parks is entirely their decision. Great thing about RVs is they have wheels.

I am a disabled vet and was given an Interagency Access Pass at no charge. Alabama just started the process to add veteran identifiers to the driver's license so veterans will easily be able to show proof for veteran's discounts.

I think that Oregon should be praised for providing free camping for those of us with a service connected disability. This applies not only to Oregon residents but also to non residents who go through a very simple application process. I have used my pass for years now and appreciate the benefit for someone who does not pay Oregon taxes to pay for the parks.

Welcome to the forum.
If everyone gives discounts, how will we pay for the 2.2 billion dollars worth of cell phones our government hands out?
We have a lot of programs to support, sometimes we just have to pay the full fare. :)

Interesting points of view. Since most disabled persons are already receiving some assistance I fgured every state had some type of program for state parks. I know Florida does but it is for residents of the state. I would have thought a great utopian state like Oregon would offer something similar.

With many state parks etc. being CLOSED due to financial concerns it really wouldn't make any sense to charge LESS to rent a site that cost more to build ad operate AND which is often the last one filled in a campground.
