I have never seen a lock on a Jenny door

As others have said,the locks on a RV compartments are pretty much useless if a thief wants in. And they are pretty much universal ch751 so the keys are easy to get.

If you are worried about it you can get These they are not any more secure but they can be keyed alike and everyone won't have a key to open them.

I replaced all of my compartment locks with them,for some reason I had 3 different keys for them :? Now I just have one key for all of them :)

I have thumb locks on the generator,if I have a problem with it,like a fuel leak or fire I don't want to be looking for a key...

Rarely if ever is there a lock on the generator compartment, as the replies here indicate.

It took me the better part of a day to drop the generator from my motorhome, and I found out once it was down that I should have driven up on a ramp or two for better clearance to pull it out. I suppose it would be a somewhat quicker process if you didn't care about putting it back and were willing to just cut the wires and gas line rather than disconnect them properly; in that case, at least on my motorhome, there would be no need at all to open the compartment door, as everything necessary to drop the generator aside from opening its maintenance door to disconnect stuff is accessible from the underside.

At 170 pounds or so, it's not very easy to steal. Frankly it would be far more lucrative (in terms of value vs time expended) to steal the catalytic converters, and be equally as subtle to those around.

Every compartment on your trailer can be opened in a minute or less with a large screwdriver. Thieves don't care about causing damage.

Our 96 Southwind does not have a lock on the generator compartment.
It's probably a safety thing, which makes sense.

You can buy an aftermarket, or OEM style lock but as has been mentioned that isn't going to slow down a serious thief. However if someone is after your generator, which probably weighs in the neighborhood of 250+ lbs., they are serious about it and a lock won't even be a glitch in their plan. You could put a $250 lock on that door and it won't slow down a person that wants that generator.

RV basement locks keep honest people honest, and that's about it. Anyone could use a large screwdriver and open the door quicker than you could with the key. My generator door has a lock, but I wouldn't worry about it if it didn't.

RVIA, USDOT and National Fire Association all say no lock on an LP shutoff but I don't think anyone cares about quarter generator. Sterling a built in generator will be hard enough as it is, a lock on a tin door won't make any difference.

Compartments that have propane an other combustionible liquids should no be locked.
This so you and emergency response can extinguish any fire or shut off the propane.

The generator and propane tank doors are not normally lockable so they are readily accessible in the event of a fire. That may be a code requirement, but I'm not sure about that.
