Many states let you do this. Montana won't charge you sales tax.
Other states have reciprocating sales tax agreements with other states that require RV dealers to collect sales tax at the time of purchase, even from non-resident RV buyers. The RV buyer must still title/register their RV in the state where they legally residence.
However, it's my understanding NM is the only state that allows NON-resident RV buyers to pay NM sales tax . . . AND legally title/register their RV in NM with an out-of-state address.
