Last summer we sold our class A, but kept our large 5'ver down south. The idea was to try out using a SUV/motels instead of the Class A for on the road time.
Really missed the freedom the class A gave us, but the bottom line is it is so much easier this way. Plus, it opened up many more possibilities that the Class A did not allow. For example this spring we were surprised by our granddaughter having a destination wedding in Jamaica. Finding out that flying out of Orlando was half the cost of Houston we jumped in the SUV and headed to Florida. Hit a bunch of nice hotels, stayed with old neighbors and family members along the way even.
Since it was too early to come north we spotted a very cheap cruise out of Tampa and jumped on that. Driving threw bad weather north was a snap with the SUV vs the RV. We're now renting a 1,000 sq foot flat with in-floor heat, gas log fireplace, SS appliances, dishwasher, laundry, on the water with a full wall of windows, with all the other perks for a few weeks.
I'm missing the Class A and the 8-14 weeks we would stay in it while on the road, but am having a very hard time justifying owning one again.
