Best thing. Tel us the CG name so we all can avoid it.
That happened to us at Secluded Valley in NC, just off 19 out of Spruce Pines. We were told we would have a riverside site, when we got there, they had given it to someone else. So, we took our money, and left, have not been back, and will not go back. People will only treat you as bad as YOU let them.

BTW. From a friend who was there. I do know for a fact that the site they wanted to give us, stayed empty for the weekend, and the people in the site we were supposed to be in, left the next morning. So they did lose money on the deal. We however got a great site in the Blue Ridge Parkway, and had 3 great days.

I agree that you should submit this to RVParkReviews but I would like to point out that the site's policies require you to write about more than just this bad experience. Since you did stay at the park there are, no doubt, other observations you can make about it and share with others.

We do this to ensure that all reviews have at least some information that is applicable to other RVers. Hopefully, few of them will experience the reservation problem you had, so having your review contain additional information will ensure that it will have relevance to them regardless of that.

If you are a moderator at RVparkreviews and if it is as you say that there must be a positive portion of the review, even of a place that is a dump, ripoff or misrepresented. As of late I've noticed some my submitted reviews haven't been showing up. I guess I won't be wasting my time adding anymore honest reviews to my over 270 at your web site. I often check the reviews and have wondered on occasion why things seemed "off".

This campground owner will not give you a discount or make any amends to moving you. If you choose to leave, you will lose your deposit. We know because we used to camp there a lot. When we had a smaller rig, it made little difference. Now however, it does. We were moved every time we made a reservation and requested a specific site. They are very nice in telling you when you make a reservation and pay the required deposit that the site is available, etc., etc, etc. Keep in mind they may be lying about a group coming in. The last time there, the site we reserved was empty when we pulled in, but we were not allowed the site due to a "larger rig requesting it." That would have to be a 40'+ rig. The site sat empty the ENTIRE week we were there with the exception of one night when someone pulled in (he didn't have a reservation, we asked him) for overnight (he was shorter than us, too). We will never go back. I will park at Walmart if I have to and I never park at Walmart.

In addition, the owner's child had a dog that had the run of the campground. He would poop everywhere and no one ever came around to pick it up.

Also I asked early in our history there about discounts. . . the owner said, "I don't need to give discounts. I'm the only game in town."

Yup, a few years back we were stopping in West Yellowstone, and the (male) clerk gave our spot to the three cute girls from Sweden just in front of us.

When we reserved a specific site at a beach campground in San Diego we paid extra for a specific site, months in advance. We were called later and ASKED if it would be ok to move our site and a new specific site was offered. It was explained at the time that a group wished to be together. We were also offered a reduction in our rate for our inconvenience. We accepted. This is probably how it should have been handled. Since you wish to return to the park, I would voice my displeasure to the park managers/owners, so they understand for future reservations you have expectations.

I agree with the OP. If the site # was stated on the receipt then it was yours. However, look at the bright side, would you have enjoyed your stay surround by a group who all knew each other, were probably partying, kids running across your campsite,etc.?

I think you've learned that next time you reserve a specific site check thoroughly that it will be held for you regardless and get it in writing.

Yep, you got smoozed on that one! It's not about pleasing one or a dozen. Its about doing the right thing. We, especially the DW, would have been quite upset!

In all our years of camping since the early 50's we have had more GOOD CAMPING EXPERIENCIES than bad ones.. I would chalk it up to stuff happens and move on haha...
