Not Made To Last

Why are the adhesive graphics on rv's not made to withstand the elements? Mine are peeling all the way around my TT. The one on my front end I had replaced once and it's peeling off again! My rig is six years old now and I know they only make replacements for so long before they are discontinued. What to do? Guess you could take em all off and then you could look like a fema trailer.

  • I must be lucky. My 2003 Jayco still has all the original graphics, and while it may have faded a bit, it shows absolutely no sign of peeling. Always stored outside, and never covered.

Perhaps IF you opted for entire surface of all sides..

But if you select something "small" in size as accents I doubt it will cost much more than having all new custom vinyl designed, cut and applied.

If it is nothing more than typical RV "swoops", those are typically only solid color for each swoop and often a group of swoops has not more than a couple of colors.. Should not take a lot of "artistry" to pull that off.

Call around to a few motorcycle shops or even a few custom car shops and get some ideas and quotes.

As I mentioned, stick on vinyl HAS a short life span and you can bet on having to peel it of, clean the residue and pay to have new vinyl designed, printed then applied after 6 yrs or so..

Another way now days is vinyl wraps, but once again, will need replaced often..

    I'd rather forget these beasts!
  • Good question. I see more and more vehicles wrapped and I never see them peeling.
If I wanted graphics, I'd paint them on and be done.

  • More and more trailers have the full-body paint option. That's what I'll do next time.

Peel them off, then find a local "graphic artist" that can air brush some custom graphics on for you..

The results will be a more permanent solution that will still look great many years down the road.

No matter how you cut it, stick on vinyl is a temporary at best pretend look.. They will fade, crack and peel off eventually.. One of the many reasons you no longer see vehicles with the fake woodgrain panels..
  • several places will make whatever you want.. and they or you install.

vinyl and glue hate the Sun.... and very Cold...

    fade, crack, peel. S.O.P.
