If at sea level I removed the valve stem from a tire ,the air inside would equalize at one atmosphere .Replace valve stem and brought tire up to 33 pounds with nitrogen , contents would be 50 percent ...

I wonder if airplanes and race cars evacuate a tire before nitrogen . Maybe I have been sniffing to much glue , I do not have any glue so I use my granddaughters paste .
Yes you said it correct and yes your theory is also correct. However, as others has said 78% free nitrogen is good enough. It has worked for me for over 50 years so I'll not change now.
