That sounds right. A majority of our meds are manufactured in either China or India. I try and stick with American manufacturers when possible, but it's getting much harder. A few years back I remember a Chinese company intentionally faked the active ingredient in Heparin. It killed 12 patients on cardio bypass when their blood clotted during open heart surgery. 15% of Chinese children are poisoned with lead and they don't give a ****. You think their careful with what they put in our pills? Some generics are good and some are bad. If you want to know where your pill was manufactured, on the bottom right corner of the bottle you will see an NDC # looks like this,
NDC: 00378-1809-10 That number will tell you the real manufacturer.

According to my info, it was ONE manufacturer located in China and several (Six?) distributors - but all from the same manufacturer. The different names on the report are distributors, not manufacturers. They call themselves "Drug Companies" but did not manufacture this specific product batch - that's the best info I have - but don't just take my word, it's just advice to follow up with your doctor if you take this med ...

AND, I was comparing it to KIA - the MFGR saying, "drive the car" anyway. AND, the MFGR saying, "Take the med anyway."

Why would anyone believe the MFGR when it produced a faulty product, even if it MIGHT have produced a faulty product. I personally would not take the chance with my family - pills or vehicle - ... why would anyone until some kind of results appeared. PLUS -- in this case, the MFGR admitted it has contaminated several batches of medications, and shipped them to Europe and USA. ADMITTED is the operative word here.

I was offering this as an advisory to folks taking this med - didn't expect a third degree on it. Do your own homework, as you should anyway, and make your decisions.

SO, :( back to my chocolate ice cream contaminated with nuts and cherries.

I would not blame any car maker for this explosion.

Yes, I get it AZDRYHEAT, this was just a heads up so anyone can check on it. The safest route is check with your issuing pharmacy ... that's why I gave less detail.

Somehow tho, if a company built a pill with a contaminate in it, I'd not necessarily believe it when it said, "Just keep taking it." Especially when it comes from China where we have less control over quality ...

I spoke with my VA pharmacist directly, and have known her for years - she said, "Stop taking it" which I already had last week, and she sent me a refill the same day ...

I agree, nothing wrong with the med itself, works well, just certain batches (about six, I think, all from the same mfgr) that contain a contaminant.

We all hope things like this turn out less dangerous than the Tylenol contamination from years ago. Myself, I'll come down on the side of safety rather than guessing its danger in this case, or any others like it... Just sayin' :)

Now, if it's Chocolate ice cream, contaminated with nuts and cherries, I'd probably just eat it and hope it's safe...
