Obbanon State Park , Indiana

We just got back from Wisconsin and they have a similar charge for out of state campers. The day vehicle pass is $10 for each vehicle you have (MH plus toad $20) plus $30 per night camping. They do have an out of state annual pass of $30 with a reduced price for the second vehicle. We stayed at a private CG for $28.49 including tax.

Are you saying if I went to a KY Sate Park without the rv I would not be charged an entrance fee?

Yes, Kentucky does have some of the most beautiful, clean state parks in the nation. We always look forward to our trips that include Kentucky or Tennessee.

Don't be "sorry" is wasn't your fault. The park was beautiful. Lots of shade. The only thing that bothered me was the entry fee. That isn't something I am familiar with as Missouri doesn't charge anything like that. It really bothered me that they charge more for out of state visitors. It really seems like just another way to get more from campers. I could see the fee for day users but if your camping I just don't see it. Anyway we did enjoy our stay there. Good to see a lot of people were out enjoying their state parks. Thanks,John

In Indiana the state park campgrounds are under contract from an out of state company. That being said I do not know how the contract is worded for fees. The $7. fee is charged all in-state vehicles camping or not as a daily usage fee. I don't know the out of state vehicle fees.

You have heard wrong. Michigan has a daily rate, and an annual rate, for out of state vehicles. If you will be in the parks for three days, use the day rate. Four days or more opt for the annual.

For in state vehicles, there is only the annual option.

go a few miles north to Spring Mill St Pk,
its has a beautiful historical pioneer village, working grist mill
nice camp ground, and the astronaunt Gus Grissom memorial

We'll be headed down to Southern Indiana in a few weeks. I considered OBannon because they have the pool, but since we will be at Holiday World and the water park anyway, I'm going to set up in Lincoln State Park. It's only a few miles to HW and it shouldn't have quite the crowds.

The $7 is the one time gate fee. Once you get your camping mirror tag you can come and go as you please for the length of your stay, 1 day or 14 days you only pay it once. If you were near other Indiana State Parks or Recreation areas, your one time $7 gate fee would have gotten you into those parks as well with your mirror hang tag dated with your departure date. If you change parks that you are camping in, you would pay the $7 gate fee again once at the next park.

Indiana residents can buy an annual pass for $40 and out of state guests can buy an annual pass @ $60. This will get you into all state properties as many time as you want and you will then only be charged the camping fee.

We avoid state parks. Cost is too high. I can have full hookups elsewhere for the same price.
