Obbanon State Park , Indiana

Got back from a weeks vacation Sat. First night stayed at Obbanon State Park for one night. park was beautiful though a bit crowded. The thing I was upset about was the cost. $40 for one night, electric only! I understand they charged more because it was a holiday weekend (July 6th). $33 including tax. Plus a $7.00 vehicle fee, this is what I think is unreasonable. I guess if we could have gotten the 5er in there without a vehicle I wouldn't have a problem. Do any other states charge extra for the vehicle?

  • Illinois doesn't have a vehicle charge and the SP where we hosted you were allowed three vehicles but one had to be in overflow area, and keep off the grass.
  • the truck towing the 5ver was the only drivable vehicle ?

then i think somebody messed up

we did extensive camping in Indiana last summer at numerous state parks/rec area's, even had the scooter, only paid the basic camping fee, no extra vehicle fee
  • I agree, that is expensive for electric only.South Carolina only charges $18 a nite for water and electric.Pennsylvania charges $25 a nite for electric and does not charge for the tow vehicle or toad.
  • I agree. We went to Versailles State Park in Indiana and they charged the fee as well, and it was more if you lived out of state which we do. Thats ridiculous. Our state parks in KY don't charge extra and they are some of the nicest I've seen
  • I totally agree with you. A camper should not have to pay for the tow vehicle or the toad. I have heard tha Michigan does this and charges you every time you leave and re-enter the park while camping there. Who the hell do they think put up the money for these parks.
