A few years ago while driving from Los Angeles back to Palm Springs, CA, we were on the 10 freeway going east. We see these white fluffy things on the road not realizing that they were cushions from a piece of furniture.
As we keep going, we see a lady driving a Ford 150 p/u with a sofa in the back with nothing tied down. Apparently, the sofa was set up just like you would have it in the living room with all the loose cushions on it. One by one they were blowing off.
Then, the sofa started to slide out the back as the tailgate was open and it was not secured. It hit the freeway at 70 mph. A semi truck following the p/u swerved to avoid the sofa. Thank goodness that sofa slid down the freeway towards the emergency lane and flipped off the side of the freeway.
A mile or two up, the lady was stopped on the side and looked rather perplexed on what happened. I just shook my head thinking what an idiot. She could have caused a serious accident.
