Wow, you members have a lot of stories. Nothing so dramatic has happened to me. Back in high school I was driving my mom's 68 Impala when a farmers goose ran out in front of me. I could see it's neck break as it's head hit the hood of the car. When I got back to town the only damage to the car was a slight dent in the grill. The local cop ran the teen center in those days he called the farmer and I was scared that I was going to get into trouble or at least have to pay for the goose but, the farmer said that as long as no one and nothing was hurt he was not mad. S*it happens he said .
Was riding with a buddy one time in his 1970 302 cubic inch powered Ford Maverick . That was a lot of engine for a small car. The driveshaft fell off once at 90 mph. It got bumpy in the car for a while, then there was a really big bump, and then it got smooth. We costed to a stop and on the walk back to town found the driveshaft. He had just had new u-joints installed by a mechanic. When he went back to the mechanic to complain they said it was not their fault because the driveshaft was obviously bent. Of course it was bent now !!! It had fallen off of the car and we had run it over. !! It broke the tail shaft off of the transmission. I think the mechanic should have paid to fix it but, we were kids and had no way of making them do it.
