Had a buddy one time that had a 1964 Ford Falcon. Was a nice car in it's day. But, by the time he got it there was nothing left to it but rust. It got so rusty that the rear leaf springs broke off and pushed into the trunk. As he drove around town any big bump would cause the back end of the car to hit the pavement and after dark you could see sparks fly. Problem was this was the gas tank of the car !!! We told him that he should fix that. He jacked the car up crawled underneath of it and wired a 6X6 block of wood to the top of the axle so that the car could not sink. That worked but, it sure rode bad after that. One day he was out hunting snapping turtles when the the tie-rod broke on the front end of the car and he could no longer steer. He got the wheels straight then he crawled under the car with a long piece of rope and tied one end to the broken part of the tie-rod end. He had no way to cut the rope so he wrapped it all the way around the car and slammed it in the back door. This way he could turn one front wheel and the other one was always pointed straight ahead. He said that going in a straight line was fine but, it was a bit*h to go around a corner when you could only turn one front wheel. He drove the car down to the junk yard , left it, and walked home carrying his battery and a snapping turtle by the tail.
