Odometer miles on tow vehicle

I was wondering if when towing a 2003 Honda Pilot of the odometer registers miles while being towed?? Thanks in advance for your replies.

  • If you do not pull the batt2 fuse on a 2010 Buic Enclave the odometer will register.
  • My Subaru doesn't register the mileage, I doubt that your Honda does either.

Could be wrong (often am), but willing to learn.

neither of our jeeps register mileage while being towed.
  • Put vehicle in neutral, turn the switch to the off position, while you are in the drivers seat, have DW push for about 2 city blocks and watch the odo.

    Hope that helps. :B

PS: if you tell her I suggested this approach, I will deny it.
  • If the vehicle has a mechanical odometer (driven by a cable from the transmission output shaft), the towed miles will accumulate on the meter.
I don't know when the mechanical gauges were eliminated, but it was a LONG time ago, probably late 1980s or early 1990s.
Nearly any vehicle built since then will have an electronic speedometer/odometer. When the switch is in the OFF position, the towed miles will not be registered.
  • My 2002 CRV does not record any towing miles, Pilot could be dufferent
