Oh Boy

Just saw this on facebook, guy was lookinhg for advice on his Ram 1500:

...I just sold my camper, was over 36ft long and 8000lbs dry, loaded was prob closer to 9k. I pulled it with my 2011 1500 with the 5.7 hemi and 3.92 gears. You should be perfectly fine at that weight. Anything more than what I described and I’d strongly recommend a 2500 or up.

Not sure where to start with this statement....I'll bet he was every bit of 10k....

Close your eyes, click your heels together three times while saying "Manufactures ratings are fake - I know it can tow my trailer!"

    Then all will be good...

Then the fact that most all things designed/engineered/tested/certified/etc are NOT for the good days out there...but for the bad days, to the worst day out there when Mr Murphy crosses your path

Either you have the right stuff and/or adjusted correctly...add drivers talent/knowledge/luck spot on or not

No time to go back to the store and purchase the right stuff...nor time to re-setup

That is part of any OEM's ratings system, which includes their warranty & liability CYA's (they why of all the labels, read me first, manuals, etc)

Warranty...yes the wheels won't instantly fall off, but they will sooner when over the ratings

Liability...yes it will get it going on 'most' inclines at maximum rated load and yes it will stop...but longer stopping distances (another yes, the OEMs dial in safety margins, but how much of that is left after you have overloaded and/or modified)
