emzee, just remember that although the surgery and recovery is painful, you resolve the chronic ache all the time that makes you miserable. My mom, who has had both hers replaced, doesn't have knee issues now, so I can hardly keep up, my knees ache always. I am trying to hold off for a few more years, but probably will have mine replaced within the next five.
