OHNO! FunFinder Trailer 189FBS floor leak. Ideas?

I hope you all can help. We just bought a 2010 Fun Finder 189FBS trailer. It has one slide which is out. It has been raining all day. This afternoon I discovered a small puddle under a vent that is under a storage cabinet. Closer examination showed a little leaking under from where the refrigerator is (not sure where this originates), then at the vent next to the fridge and under a cabinet, and a little bit under a storage area that doubles as a bed. No water anywhere else. It is not the ceiling. Ceiling is dry. Has anyone heard of this? We are newbies so maybe this is something obvious to a seasoned RVer. Maybe we need a vent cover? Or should we pull out the fridge and take a look? Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks

Jean

  • Thanks, I'll give these suggestions to the chief bottle washer and let you all know what we find. Keep the ideas coming!
  • I would also make certain of the status of your refrigerators "slobber tube" (small white tube). It connects to the fridge to drain condensation from the fridge and SHOULD be routed outside through the service panel venting. If it's just hanging inside the service panel it will dump water on the floor behind the fridge.
    Good luck / Skip
  • I had a wet spot way in the front by the couch and dinette. Turned out the sink drain positioned mid ship, was leaking and running down under the stove and under the couch and THEN on to the carpet in the front of the RV.

Bathroom floor leak turned out to be coming from where the awning attaches outside. :R

Point is in an RV where you see the wet spot is NOT necessarily where the water is coming from. Put you hand on carpet where it is to the eye obvious wet and then keep feeling where it is damp and it will lead you to the leak. "IF" it is not coming from above. :B
  • You might look to see if the fridge condensation is causing that. Dometics have a drain tube that is supposed to go to the outside, but sometimes it doesn't... and the condensate drips onto the floor instead. Norcolds have a tray inside the fridge that needs to be emptied; failure to empty the tray could cause water to slosh out and exit the door.

Also, very humid weather like you're having could cause the fridge to sweat on its exterior, and that could be dripping down. If so, it's probably a rare event and should not be a long term problem.

I'm sure there are other possibilities, of course. Just a couple that came to mind.
  • Maybe the refrigerator roof vent? Ours leaked and we didn't know until there was enough water for the carpet in front of frig to get wet. The outside access compartment was full of water too - look out there - is there water? We had to reseal around the vent on the roof. Cracked or improper caulking/installation could be allowing a leak.
