Man I love this forum. Most all the people I associate with and Internet forums I’m on, are generally like minded, conservative, fairly practical folks it seems.
None (or the vast majority) of us are out to pave paradise and put up a parking lot, and we all (or the vast majority) love getting out in nature and exploring it responsibly.
This may be the sharpest dose of reality I’ve come across regarding how the liberal other side actually thinks. (I don’t attend LGBT rallies though, so I’m sure I haven’t see the best display yet. (What’s really shocking is when I typed lgbt for the first time, a *** flag emoji automatically popped up!!!! But I’m not burning my phone, liberals are welcome to provide the rest of us good technology!)
Either way, enjoy the banter fellas, and YSam and Reisender, if you’re not offended by lots of dinosaur burning engines, you’re still welcome at my place for a drink and some vittles.
Heh heh. Your on. And likewise. You are always welcome. I’m sure it would be a spirited conversation. We get together often with our conservative neighbours and pretty much the only thing we agree on is that grey goose vodka is good. Go figure. We hang out more with our conservstive friends than our fellow socialists. More spirited conversation I suppose. :).
Same here and enjoy it immensely!
Mine is however is goes beyond liberal and conservative divide. Voted 50/50 before and lately gone 80/20. Looking like it will be 100% this time around.
Without sounding sanctimonious, my goal and advocates goes beyond myself, my generation and into long-term economic stability.
First the environment that my children and their own will be able to continue to enjoy the same beautiful public recreations that I have and have a livable spaceship earth we all love.
Second, while it is in my pocketbook interest of maximum tax cuts for corporations and slave wages for their workers, I know enough of economic history to know that the secret for our sustained prosperity is strong purchasing power for the middle class.
My political support and environmental activism goes to the same people or group aligned with these values.
I'm sorry that I offend someone's tender feelings, but sarcasm and humor, hopefully enveloped in accurate data and facts, are my weapon of choice. Grit dog wrote:

This green weenie thinks it's really dumb to keep polluting for the sake of a short-term contest of economies.
And someone got to tell me how it is good economics that all coals plants manufacturing had to shutdown in Beijing and metro areas because the air is so polluted that it's zero visibility in the region. - TomG2ExplorerOur grandparents had this argument when people were switching from horse and buggies to automobiles. There are always those who dislike change. "The old way is the best way" is not always true.
For a real revolution, why don't we look at a little conservation? A home that uses sixty percent as much energy can be just as big and comfortable as one with poor insulation and design. - 2oldmanExplorer II

Come now explain to this practicing economist and green weenies how moving away from coal puts us on economic disadvantage when every country and their brothers are going solar and electric cars.
