Humm, I like to have air flow in what ever I am driving. If I had a Motor Home I think that leaving the back window open would be the perfect idea to get air to flow through the RV without adding much noise. If you have decent air flow you can shut the AC off.
Also, I suppose,,, There is a big suction behind a RV that is trying to slow you down and robs gas mileage. I suppose it's possible that people believe that if you leave that back window open you are breaking some of that suction and helping yourself out. Might be some truth in that !!
