It's just a basic rheostat. Lots of dial ones available. An old trailer brake adjuster was probably good for about 10 amps.

If you really need a slider, look in wrecking yards for older European cars with a sliding fan control. Those will have a similar rheostat, but probably good for about 25 amps.
