Older MH repair parts - hard to find? Pls advise!

We are probably going to buy a 40' 1995 Safari Ivory DP with a 300hp Cummins and Allison 6 speed xmsn for our first MH. I would imagine that most drivetrain/brake parts are still readily available. I do know anything about the appliances/systems at all. The generator is an Onan. I would hope most plumbing/electrical would be available also.

I would imagine that body parts may be the biggest nightmare to find.

I have seen some junk yards mentioned on this forum somewhere.

Am I correct, or am I in for a can of worms?
  • Yes, body parts can be a problem, although almost anything can be fabricated by a talented body shop. There are also a number of RV salvage yards where parts are available for many years and models. As far as appliances, etc. go, most of the same brands and even some models, are generally still used today, so that's usually not an issue. Even if an exact replacement is not available, a current unit can nearly always be fitted with minimal modifications.
  • You are right, the only hard parts to find will be the body parts.
