I aways had it in the back of my mind when tent camping. never had any issues, knock on wood!
WOW, Makes ya think that there is only a thin fiberglass wall protecting you from events such as this. If that happend to us I would just crank up the engine and drive off. I would worry about damage from pulling out shore power and water line later. - PortWentworthSaExplorerWOW, Makes ya think that there is only a thin fiberglass wall protecting you from events such as this. - Grit_dogNavigator IIIWow!
That was one determined bear!
Never even considered bear problems til we moved to AK and the only run ins were the local garbage bear in the subdivision.
Glad they're ok. Guess next time keep the pistole in the camper! - navegatorExplorerBears only "attack" if they are startled, cornered or have cubs, this bear probablly smelled food in the RV or some IDIOT fed it some food from a trailer door and this one was looking for food.
With all the fires that have destroyed so much food for all the animals it does not surprice me one bit if these animals are going hungry.
I am very happy that only the trailer is damaged and no one else, the kids must have been terrified.
navegator - loulou57ExplorerGlad everyone and the bear escaped without any injury.
We camp quite often in bear territory. We have to respect that we are in their home.
We saw a 32' trailer shredded to bits inside. The bear came in through the screen door, the wife being in the bathroom thought it was her hubby making all the noise. She poked her head out to face a 700lb male. Luckily the TT had a door from the bathroom outside. The bear removed every cabinet, fridge, microwave and oven door. It ripped off the toilet and tore up the floor. The kitchen sink was removed also. Eventually the bear left and was later caught in a trap. - RoyBExplorer IIHaving a couple of HD WASP SPRAY cans just inside the trailer door would have been a great defense in this case if you was brave enough to open the doors or windows.
That would be a very scary ordeal for most of us...
