Online shopping while on the road

How would I order something online when on the road? Can I have something shipped to a post office without a po box, if I am going to be somewhere for a few days? I can't find anything conclusive online, if anyone has experience, please share!

  • You should also change your CC address to where you are so the card will go through.

Why? That would be a first clue the card might be stolen and cause it to be shut off. I've never heard of anyone doing this. If you change the CC address then the bill is going to go to the wrong spot if you still get a paper bill. We've ordered stuff and had it delivered directly to the campground. You can also have items held at the local UPS or Fed Ex office. Check to see if there's one close and if they have the service. I believe you can also have items held at the local post office.

If it works OK for buying gas and food, etc. while you are travelling around, it should work for anything.

Actually trying to do that might cause you a BIG headache.
If the company verifies the address you try to use and finds it is NOT a residence, they might cancel your card.

    Overall bad advice.,
  • If you include your RV park site number in your address, UPS and Fedex will often deliver right to your door. Those parks that don't allow it will usually accept packages at the office. As said, General Delivery works for regular mail, preferably to a small town PO rather than a large city PO. I've also used "Hold for pickup" for some UPS or Fedex shipments when there was an office fairly close.

Use a UPS store. About a $10 fee. You should also change your CC address to where you are so the card will go through.

Ditto. I have done this a couple of times when I needed something badly and would not be sitting still long enough to order+ship.
  • Have placed orders with Amazon and had them shipped c/o state parks where we were staying. (Gotta watch out for backordered stuff.)

Have also had our mail shipped to post offices c/o General Delivery.

I needed a taillight lens but couldn't get it for 5 days. Not wanting to wait, I shipped it to a UPS store a thousand miles away on my route home. No problemo.
