Open cars and bears~~~etc?

We have a little Miata sports car/roadster that we have just set up to tow.
I never thought about it but I assume it would not be a good idea to take this car to areas where bears and such come near the cars?
Even if the top would up there is not much protection offered.

  • We went camping at Convict Lake in California and there were signs all over the place to watch for bears. I was so excited to see a bear and never did. They can certainly be a problem but like the other said, food is the issue and many places offer bear boxes to store food in.
  • Don't think that putting the food of a convertible in the trunk will stop a bear. They will ho through the back seat once they are in the car.
  • Are you using the car for food storage? Bears are after food, otherwise they have no interest in your Miata.
  • Hard top....convertible
Doesn't much matter to a bear

    Just be smart......as noted above.

    Don't invite them
  • Don't leave food in the car unattended. Bears won't bother an occupied car unless you try to offer them food. If a bear approaches the car, drive away.
