Opinions on heat strip for A/C - UPDATED with Results

I've been thinking of getting a heat strip for the A/C for Christmas and I want help deciding. I've read here that the heat is pretty negligible so they aren't worth it. Here is why we are thinking...

If you are running the fan anyway- it will certainly make it more comfortable. The only gotcha is that some do not have thermostatic control of the heat strip, so it could be too much heat, in moderate temps.
