Opinions on heat strip for A/C - UPDATED with Results

I've been thinking of getting a heat strip for the A/C for Christmas and I want help deciding. I've read here that the heat is pretty negligible so they aren't worth it. Here is why we are thinking...

Do not confuse a Heat Pump/AC unit with a Heat Strips. Two different things.
