Opinions on heat strip for A/C - UPDATED with Results

I've been thinking of getting a heat strip for the A/C for Christmas and I want help deciding. I've read here that the heat is pretty negligible so they aren't worth it. Here is why we are thinking...

Mine is controlled with the same thermostat as the furnace. Has a position for heat, cool, and heat strip. I wouldn't be without it. It will maintain a good 15 to 20 degree temperature differential from outside and sure saves on the propane.
