Opinions on heat strip for A/C - UPDATED with Results

I've been thinking of getting a heat strip for the A/C for Christmas and I want help deciding. I've read here that the heat is pretty negligible so they aren't worth it. Here is why we are thinking...

Hi,

Mine was the same. I added a thermostat for just the furnace, so I can supplement the heat strip with the propane furnace if it is too cold for the strip to manage the load by itself.
