There was one time we sure could have used a heat strip in our RV's air conditioner ... assuming there's a way to run BOTH the air conditioner and the heat strip at the same time (not likely)!
That was when we spent an ultra-humid night, but with only a moderate outside temperature (in the high 70's) ... no way could we have gotten any sleep because of the humidity.
At the same time, we ran the air conditioner on a low enough setting to reduce interior humidity and an electric space heater to keep from getting frozen out by the air conditioner. We got the balance between the two just right and finally it was comfortable enough so we could sleep. I called this scheme a "Rube Goldberg Dehumidifier".
