Thanks all for taking the time to respond. I want to order Maxxis but I can't find any dealer up here in Alberta that has them. I talked to some tire places in my town and they said that they would install my tires for me, no problem. I told them that I could not get the Maxxis, so I will order them from the U.S. and cross the line to pick them up, as I live near the border. They seem to understand the situation. The other option I have is to buy the Carlisle brand up here, but I don't know if they have improved over the years. If I bought up here I could check the date on the tires myself before I bought them, but buying online, I guess its a crapshoot.
If you are near the border, gotta get a US mailbox set up and buy tires and anything else you can online in the US and get it shipped to the mailbox. US prices are simply waaay cheaper (shipping included). We've had a US mailbox for years now and have probably saved thousands of $$ in all kinds of items. When we cross the border, we've only had to pay tax once (for a PC). Get a Nexus card if you plan to cross a lot.
You have to be cautious of buying some things on Amazon and tires are one thing I would avoid. Best to buy directly from an independent online vendor that you can actually phone and chat with someone if needed. I seem to recall someone on the forum in the past few weeks or so saying that they found a source for Maxxis tires at a super price, except I can't find it on a search.
