Many state parks in Oregon are rarely affected by snow such as those in Portland area. I am just saying the desire to camp is proven by OSP's own stats. Turn off the water. Power is all we need. It is like the state is turning away revenue.
I believe that this is an over simplified argument. To keep a campground "open" in the winter it is more than just turning off the water. If you ask, you might find out that there would be a need for staff and all the maintenance that would be needed. The cost of this would easily outstrip the $30 fee paid by just a few campers. We live in a time where paying taxes is a bad thing. No TAXES is the cry. Well, they are listening to us and while the cost of everything is going up, the state income is not. These are some of the downsides.
Where I live, the roads are really in trouble. They are trying to catch up but for now, it is ugly here. Also, with all the ski areas around here, why don't they keep the lifts running all summer. I would like to ride up and then hike back down. I would be willing to pay for a ticket but they choose to ignore this source of income. They give up this revenue stream. Go figure.
