Ouch! Invisible bugs?

I know what mosquitos are. Pesky, biting PITAs that are practically Minnesota's state bird.

I camped in South Carolina last week, and I was constantly slapping at the unknown, annoying invisible biting things.

Are these what you call the no-see ums I read about here?

    YEP......

    Now you know WHY they are called 'No-See-Ums'

    They are biting flies, midgies, sand flies, punkies.....and just like mosquitoes it's the female that does all the biting/blood sucking.

    And just like mosquitoes......DEET and long sleeves
