Ouch! Kids borrow trailer, ruin all jacks

We were camping at a NFS campground last week and chatting with the camp host. That morning a bounch of "young" kids had borrowed their parents trailer and when leaving forgot to lift the jacks up before driving off.

The camp host had to help them remove all the bent jacks so they could go home and explain it to the parents.
  • I have a small utility trailer and every time I let someone borrow it, it comes back with something broken. Whenever I borrow something, I try to return it better that I got it, even if its just giving whatever it is a good cleaning. From what I learned, that's not the case with everyone. I just couldn't imagine letting anyone drive off with my camper.
  • Another proof positive for NOT letting anyone use your camper!.... ever ... not even family.

I did let my in-laws use my Dutchmen several years ago. But I towed it to the camp ground, set it up, and they stayed for a week. Then I came back, broke camp and towed it home.... but ..... never again! The finally bought their own.
  • It's definitely the fault of the kids.

Us experienced RVers NEVER make mistakes. :W
  • Don't loan your kids your trailer?

Make sure YOU teach your kids properly???

  • Eghh... if that's the worst of the damage they are lucky. Stab jacks (assuming they are manual) are cheap and easy to replace. First time I borrowed my parents Class C I forgot to lock the awning shut. Lost it on Interstate 95 somewhere in South Carolina. That was a more expensive mistake...
