Saw a guy at Walmart today standing near an old camper-van wearing ACU (army-combat-uniform) trousers and holding a cardboard sign "Homeless & Hungry Veteran, Please Help"! Being near a large Army Post, many people stopped and handed him cash. When I walked by he asked; "Are you a Christian?" I asked him what branch of the service he was in and he said "Army", how long? "4 years" he said. He looked to be in his early twenties and I asked what rank? He answers "Senior Sergeant" - Young man there is no such rank in the Army, and you are not a veteran! I then asked if he was a Christian? He said, "none of your business" then promptly got in his van and drove away. These are the worst kind of slugs!
This is why a short interview is in order in my view before passing out cash. My dad thought be to offer food if they claim to be hungry, gas if they claim they need money for cash. Most people who are hungry or out of gas will take the item they are requesting money for.
