Citronella candles are very effective with keeping mosquitoes out of a small area and are easy to transport.

I treat all our clothing with permethrin that I mix up and spray on or dunk the clothes into and it lasts for 6-50 washings depending upon the strength. It is 100% effective and keeps the mosquitoes from landing on your clothing. That greatly reduces where we need to apply picaridin insect repellant to be fully protected.

At campsites the spots closest to a meadow or creek are going to have more mosquito traffic at night. We prefer to let other campers have these spots and figure that they are keeping the mosquitoes fed and happy.

Noticed with Saturdays constant breeze there were no skeeters. How about a fan?

Why not go to a fabric store like Joann or Hancock and buy yardage of netting or tulle and make your own? If you go to the website you can get 40-percent off coupons and there must be some way of using S hooks or cup hooks or something punched right through the fabric to hang them from your awning. How about peel & stick velcro?

The Off lantern works well for us. The candles burn about 4 hours.

Hey Jorn - I did what you asked about - bought about 30 feet of 6 foot tall screening from an army/navy store for the awning on my van when we went to Alaska. Simply secured it to the edges of the awning with mini spring clips that I got at Home Depot. Worked "OK"... The 6 foot high screening left a gap at the bottom along the sides,since the awning was about 6.5 feet above ground level, plus it was open under the camper along that 4th side. I simply used some magnets to hold it against the sides of the van. Could have modified it by sewing either more screening to the bottom or some other material to make it longer. Went up quick, but wasn't bug-proof by any means, but it certainly helped keep them at bay. Ended up buying a freestanding screen room about 10 x 10 foot at an end-of-season sale - takes up more storage room but benefit is more bug-proof, and I can leave it set up on site when I take the van to go sightseeing, etc., Hope this helps! Get a Therma cell.
They absolutely work great.
You can get one in Wally World, Home Depot or Bass pro shop.
We use ours in the Florida Keys and the Everglades NP and you can sit outside all evening
