Owning Two RVs

This will surely strike some as odd, but we now own 2 RVs. We've owned a 28 foot slideless Class C for almost 10 years, and love it. It has served us faithfully as our sightseeing vehicle; but after spending a month in it touring Alaska, Ed and I agreed that without slides, it's a bit cramped for extended stays.

We own a used car business, so always have a diesel tow vehicle available for the car hauler. It made sense to us, that it was cheaper to buy a used 5th wheel with slide, to try out a mini-snowbird vacation; rather than give up the beloved Class C and pray we could find a motorhome with slides that we liked?

So we just bought a 2003 Laredo 28RE 5er that was very-well cared for. It will probably be used for a month in the winter; and maybe a few weekends during warmer weather. When it's not on the road, it can be stored indoors.

So my big question is this: assuming there are others who own 2 RVs - do you move everything (pots, pans, linens, fans, heaters, leveling blocks, etc) from vehicle to vehicle, or do you just stock both so they're ready
to go?

  • We currently have two, bought a new one, but dealer tried to dupe us on the trade, so we just bought the new one with the intent if selling the second...we just stocked the new one with new stuff. Swapped everything the first trip, then decided it was way too much work....plus, we found ourselves missing stuff (left in the other RV).

  • Depends - do you want to purchase the duplicate items, or do you want to move the current items from one to the other?

One costs money, the other costs time and effort.
